Really excited to see the launch of the Google for Transportation initiative from @kristin white last week

I know firsthand how critical transportation is to our economy and daily life – it’s the backbone that keeps our nation moving, literally.
Yet often it is overlooked from a technology perspective, which is exactly why we launched @mindtheaigap.
This isn’t just another tech launch—it’s a fundamental shift in how we think about solving real problems in our communities. What stands out to me:
Safety first – a mantra that all operators have at the core of their business and with the amount of accidents still occurring today this is something the industry simply has to improve.
The human-centered approach. Too often, we see technology solutions searching for problems. This flips the script by starting with people’s actual needs. .
The partnership model. No single organisation will revolutionise transportation on their own. The industry needs the partner network to collaborate and innovate together.
The practical focus areas. Predictive crash analytics, dynamic planning and smart asset management—these aren’t futuristic concepts, they’re needs that impact millions of people and cost millions of pounds every single day.
What really excites me is how Google Maps, AI, and search are being combined to tackle these challenges. We’re talking about technology that’s already proven at scale, now being directed toward some of transportation’s most persistent problems.
Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds and how the industry responds. This could be a genuine turning point for transportation technology and I would love to be on board with it
